Howe School Chorus

Chorus is an extracurricular, before school activity that gives students 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students an opportunity to learn more about ensemble singing, perform choral music of many genres, and participate in concerts. We meet on Tuesdays at 7:50 AM.

Howe School Chorus started in the fall of 2012. The idea was to give students who loved to sing an extra opportunity to explore their interest and learn what it is like to sing in a practicing ensemble. Students will be taught real choral vocal exercises, proper singing technique, and how to blend. They will also experience reading music from a score, singing in parts, and have the opportunity to audition for solos.

As with many extra curricular clubs and activities, there are numerous behavior expectations:

1. There is no early transportation available for students. Chorus members should be dropped off at the front of the building and come to the cafeteria.

2. Chorus members are allotted 4 unexcused absences. We only meet once a week so it is very important that students come to all the rehearsals to learn the music for the concerts. Tardies count as 1/3 absence. If your child needs to miss chorus for any reason, please e-mail Mr. Moberg by 7:30 AM for it to be recorded as an excused absence.

3. Chorus members will be respectful at all times. First behavior offense during rehearsal will result in a warning. Second offense will result in a time-out. Third offense will result in a note home. A fourth offense during rehearsal will result in the child being asked to take a week away from chorus to correct behavior. The missed day counts as an unexcused absence. Any subsequent offense will result in removal from chorus.
